Herbal Teas are fantastic Heartburn Home Remedies and great alternatives to caffeine.Camomile Tea
Camomile Tea is a proven natural remedy for reflux. It has calming, balancing and anti-inflammatory properties.
To prepare, infuse five to eight grams of loose German camomile flowers or use an organic Camomile teabag in a cup of boiling water. Cover and leave for ten minutes. Strain then allow to cool. Drink three of four cups of cold Camomile tea a day, after meals and an hour before bedtime or when you feel acid building up. Camomile tea is an immediate acid reflux cure and has long term benefits as well.
Ginger Root Tea
Ginger root is an age old heartburn remedy.
Use a fresh root of ginger, peel it off and grate or finely chop it. Add one teaspoon to a cup of boiling water, let it stew for 10 minutes, strain then allow and cool down. Drink after meals. Drink cold ginger tea as safe natural remedy for reflux. You can also just chew a small piece of fresh ginger to relieve heartburn pain.
Chicory Tea
Many digestive supplements include chicory to help digestion as it contains endive and escarole. Either the roots or leaves can be used. To prepare take half a cupful of the root and boil for five to ten minutes, then strain, cool and drink after meals.
Cinnamon Tea
Contains a a powerful agent that neutralizes acidity and is also used to treat colds and flu due to its antiseptic properties.
It can be prepared as a tea or sprinkled on top of foods like bread.
Aniseed and Lavender Tea
Mix together equal amounts of aniseed and lavender and add one teaspoon to a cup of boiling water. Allow to fuse for five minutes, then strain and drink either warm or cold. Take in the morning and evening or when you feel the need for a heartburn remedy.
Marshmallow Tea
Marshmallow root is used in many herbal medicinal products. When taken as a tea, marshmallow has been shown to ease bladder infections, sore throats, respiratory problems and coat and soothe the gastric tract and also promote healing of the urinary tract.
With all these teas you could also add a bit of honey as a natural sweetener.
